NALW at WHO Europe Healthy Cities Conference: Showcasing the Social Prescribing Link Worker Model
We are pleased to share that the National Association of Link Workers (NALW) was represented at the WHO Regional Office for Europe’s Healthy Cities Annual Business Meeting and Technical Conference in Bursa, Türkiye in June 2025.
The theme, Resilient Healthy Cities: Creating sustainable urban futures for all, brought together policy makers, politicians, urban health experts and technical specialists from across the WHO European Region and beyond to share knowledge and engage in strategic discussions on building resilient, sustainable and inclusive cities.
NALW Founder Christiana Melam MBE, HonMFPH, FHEA, PhD Researcher, was invited to join a high-level panel to spotlight the UK Social Prescribing Model and how it can be embedded in urban planning — ensuring cities nurture potential in every person and every place.
This global platform recognised the role of social prescribing in bridging health and urban policy to create more resilient and inclusive cities. We are proud to see the UK’s social prescribing link worker model influencing international thinking and advancing cross-sector innovation in urban health.
